amin peck is an electronic studio project, contaminated by the new wave from u.k. like most ’80s electronic bands. amin-peck walked a fine line between disco and minimal wave throughout the course of the early 1980s, oftentimes incorporating shameless pop melodies and avant-garde leanings. amin peck were an italian band leaded by giorgio fioroni (aka george fyron, arrangements, production, vocals) with leonard parker (arrangments, keyboards) and max marne (production). incredible but true, amin peck started as hard rock guitar band in the 70s... and becoming one of the best examples of italo disco. this limited edition it contains full-length versions plus uncut audio material (a2) tracked down during tape restoration. (the first pressing coming from 1982 was pressed only on 7inch in u.k.)

die kölner band vimes kündigt endlich ihr debütalbum *nights in limbo* auf humming records an! für azhar syed und julian stetter war das debüt kein leichtes unterfangen, waren doch die erwartungen nach ersten euphorisch aufgenommenen single-veröffentlichungen wie *celestial* oder *ential*, auftritten bei internationalen showcase-festivals wie dem eurosonic (nl), dem great escape (uk) und sxsw (usa) sowie remixen für josef salvat oder kat vinter immens und die nachfrage immer gleich: *wann kommt denn euer album?*. gemeinsam mit produzent jochen naaf (xul zolar, hundreds) verschanzten sich die wahl-kölner im studio und bastelten gemeinsam in unzähligen monaten am langspieler. mit -nights in limbo- erwartet uns nun ein mix aus elektronischem pop, detailversessen arrangiertem listening-techno, abstraktem pop aber auch dezentem house. es sind lieder, die die grenzen zwischen song und track ausreizen und vimes teils experimenteller und teils zugänglicher als bisher zeigen.

* this is the seventh surgeon album.
* -while exploring new production techniques using old and unlikely hardware, the results were so unusual that i really had the sense that these pieces of equipment didn t actually create these sounds, rather they were in fact some kind of elaborate reception device that allowed me to tune into transmissions from distant galaxies. the music i could hear was actually the received transmissions of pop hits from those distant galaxies that were being played on their radio stations. i quickly recorded all that i could before losing the transmission.
* i consulted with dr andrew read, the astrophysicist with whom i recorded guitar treatments in 1999. he has worked on the discovery of the most distant galaxies and astronomical objects in the universe. together we came up with a possible list of where these musical transmissions may have come from.
